Our Story
In 1925, God placed within the heart of Mr. Charles Krout to form a Sunday School in the East Berlin area of West Berlin Township. He was a firm believer that every community needed a place where the Word of God was taught. So, on Sunday, October 11, 1925, with the help of some local ministers in the area, the East Berlin Undenominational Sunday School was born.
When Mr. Trout obeyed the call of God, he had no idea at that time that one day the East Berlin Undenominational Sunday School would become the East Berlin Community Church. For 32 years, the Sunday School existed on its own. In the late 1950's, under the direction of Dr. Alexander Mattern, the Sunday School took official steps to organize and become a church. The first Sunday Morning Services were held on Easter Sunday, April 6, 1958. Since the inception of the church, four pastors have served the congregation: Dr. Alexander Mattern, Rev. Bruce Gardener, Dr. Claudio Ruba, and Rev. Keith A. Mosebrook.
The congregation of EBCC is comprised of people from all walks of life and backgrounds. What draws us together is our faith in Christ, our love for Jesus, and for one another. Throughout the history of the church, the guiding mission has remained the same-- to provide a place where the Word of God is taught in its entirety and whree people will be pointed to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. In short, our mission is to Share Christ and Build Believers. That was Mr. Trout's mission years ago, and remains ours today.
Our Pastor
Pastor Keith, as he is called by his congregation, was born in 1954 into the family of Ralph and Phyllis Mosebrook, and then "born again" into God's family in 1960. Raised in a Christian home, his family attended the Calvary Bible Church in Hanover, PA where Keith was baptized as a teen and began a Bible-teaching ministry through a local coffee house.
He attended Appalachian Bible College, where he graduated in 1977 with a BA in Bible-Pastoral Sudies. He furthered his education at Dallas Theological Seminary, graduating in 1981 with a ThM in Systematic Theology. In 1981, he was ordained to the gospel ministry by his home church, Calvary Bible in Hanover.
Upon graduating from Seminary, Keith served as the Bible Instructor and Dean of Students at Walk-Way Vocational and Bible Institute (1982). He then served as pastor of the North Hills Bible Church in York, Pennsylvania (1983 to 1991) and Pontiac Bible Church, Pontiac, Illinois (1991-1995). In 1997, Pastor Keith moved his family to Laurel Springs, New Jersey to become the pastor of the East Berlin Community Church. While at EBCC, Pastor Keith has earned a certificate in Biblical Counseling through Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation.
Pastor Keith brings to the pulpit a lifetime commitment to the study and teaching of God's Word and to helping others become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
He is happily married to his college sweetheart, Susan Beebe, and is the proud father of two daughters, Elisabeth (David) and Abigail (Jason). He's also a very proud "Pop Pop" of four precious grandchildren.
